The ISSC position desires to tackle cultural and language barriers, foster inclusion and development of a culture of hospitality, and provide comprehensive assistance to international students in their transition to living on the Pasadena campus. The ISSC will play a crucial role in offering translation services, facilitating access to essential services, and ensuring a smooth integration into the Fuller housing community for international students and their families. The ISSC will help provide information before, during, and after residents transition to help international students thrive in Fuller Housing, Pasadena, and the United States.
The ISSC must be fluent in Korean and will work with non-English speaking and international residents. This role will support a full range of needs primarily helping international students better acclimate to living in Fuller housing and provide intercultural mediation to assist in delivering culturally and linguistically sensitive care to residents. A commitment to resident safety, customer satisfaction, efficient and effective use of resources, and teamwork, are required.

- Translation and Communication
Serve as a language liaison between the Housing Office and international students, translating all Housing communication materials and Housing-related announcements that are sent out.
Provide translation support for residents during meetings, orientations, and other interactions involving students and families who may have limited English proficiency.
- Essential Services
Guide international students and their families in obtaining essential services, such as setting up cell phone plans, opening bank accounts, setting up utilities, and acquiring necessary identification documents
- Housing
Work closely with the Housing Office team and other departments to ensure international students transition smoothly.
Be available to give tours, and answer questions, calls, or emails from international students.
Provide courteous and professional support to all current and prospective residents, guests, and staff.
Collaborate with the Housing Office team to ensure a positive and efficient housing experience for all residents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
- Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of interactions with international students and their families, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Prepare reports and concerns of international students, providing insights for improvising support services.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Fluency in both Korean and English is required.

Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/life experience.

One year of experience in intercultural communication, international student support, or a related field is desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills,
clerical aptitude, and attention to detail. -
Ability to work on a collaborative team and on projects independently
