POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Specialist, Supply Chain/Sourcing is responsible for independently managing sourcing, production, and vendor operations across multiple apparel categories and brands. This role serves as a strategic contributor within the Global Sourcing function—driving supplier performance, cost optimization, and product integrity to support brand and company goals. The Senior Specialist makes decisions related to vendor selection, product costing, and sourcing strategies. This position requires advanced analytical, negotiation, and communication skills to effectively manage complex sourcing relationships, resolve production challenges, and ensure operational excellence from concept to delivery.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead sourcing and production processes for assigned apparel categories, ensuring that strategies align with brand objectives, margin targets, and quality standards.
- Develop, analyze, and manage detailed product specifications and cost sheets, ensuring compliance with company standards and vendor capabilities.
- Negotiate product costing and supplier terms based on strategic objectives, market conditions, and margin goals.
- Evaluate and onboard new vendors, ensuring compliance with company sourcing policies, ethical guidelines, and quality standards.
- Partner cross-functionally with Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Planning teams to manage the full product lifecycle—from development to on-order production.
- Drive the implementation of sourcing and product development strategies that enhance efficiency, product quality, and profitability.
- Manage key milestones in the seasonal production calendar, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to meet deadlines.
- Lead fit sessions, communicate detailed product corrections to vendors, and ensure timely execution of revisions.
- Act as a key liaison between internal business partners and global manufacturing vendors, ensuring clear communication and alignment across time zones.
- Provide data-driven recommendations on sourcing opportunities, vendor performance, and production improvements.
- Identify and resolve complex supply chain challenges involving cost, quality, or delivery with minimal supervision, applying sound business judgment.
- Contribute to the development and execution of departmental strategic initiatives, including sustainability, process optimization, and vendor diversification efforts.
- Mentor or guide junior team members on best practices in sourcing, vendor relations, and production management as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Retail Merchandising, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in apparel sourcing, production, or supply chain management within a retail or catalog environment.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in sourcing, vendor selection, and cost negotiation decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely, informed decisions in complex scenarios.
- Proven experience managing multiple categories, vendors, and production timelines simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with PLM, ERP, or other sourcing systems.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and cross-functional communication skills.
