What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Instructor position at Full-time Programs?
Department: Full-Time Programs
Reports To: Director, Instructional Services
SUMMARY: The substitute will assume the day-to-day responsibilities during the absence of the regular classroom instructor. Substitute employees are employed on an as-needed basis and are not guaranteed a set number of hours / days.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains a safe classroom environment conducive to effective learning
Maintains professionalism while supervising students
Applies all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities
Ability to work with other staff members
Keep all students in the classroom under supervision at all times
Demonstrate flexibility and preparedness to monitor various educational levels and subject areas.
Ensure district policies are observed during all activities
Become familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe weather procedures, and tornado warning procedures
Take attendance in accordance with school policy
Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Follow instructions provided by the regular instructor and administration.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required

- Strong classroom management and student supervision skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
