Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager for a client in the Commercial Services Industry. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources function. You will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of employment and labor law, talent acquisition, and performance management while demonstrating exceptional communication.

DUTIES

  • Lead recruitment efforts for a company with large blue-collar workforce with a high number of seasonal hires.
  • Oversee applicant tracking and new-hire orientation.
  • Manage onboarding, including I-9 verification and HRIS data entry.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, safety standards, and immigration requirements.
  • Oversee benefits administration, workers’ compensation, and leave management.
  • Maintain HRIS records, organizational charts, and reporting metrics.
  • Coach and advise managers on employee relations, performance, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (including wage/hour, immigration, and EEO requirements).
  • Conduct internal HR audits and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support engagement and recognition initiatives to enhance retention.
  • Collaborate with managers to forecast staffing needs and build talent pipelines.
  • Design and implement HR Policies and best practices to support growth.
  • Drive HR process improvements to streamline paperwork and reduce manual work.
  • Act as an internal consultant to management on HR-related issues, including workforce planning, succession planning, retention and Labor Compliance laws.
  • Assist employees with payroll and benefits inquiries

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Extremely organized, able to plan out process improvement plans and monitor adherence to company-defined requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in workman’s compensation, I-9 Employment Verifications, Payroll, Benefits, and other company-wide human resources activities.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Practices a high level of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize work.
  • Team player who takes initiative, strives for continuous improvement, able to think and act independently, challenges positively, and can counsel and provide advice to employees and managers.
  • Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • Ensures timely response on data inquiries such as unemployment claims, employment verification, etc.
  • Maintains knowledge of governmental reporting requirements and regulations affecting human resources.
  • Must have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Familiarity and experience with Inova or other HRIS/payroll system.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 years of progressive HR experience; field-based industry preferred.
