What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restorative Schools Coordinator position at Full Circle Restorative Justice?
Overview:
The Restorative Schools Program will serve to fortify the restorative justice practices already adopted in Chaffee County Schools. This position will provide training for Chaffee County Schools’ teachers, students, and administrators, ongoing consulting/coaching, and case management support.
The primary point of contact for this initiative will be a responsible for maintaining and supporting the growth of Restorative Practices in the district.
This program is designed to enhance school culture, student safety, and educator wellbeing; it will not be dedicated to supplanting existing initiatives, policing teacher conduct, etc.
It follows our desire to offer a comprehensive restorative justice system to this community through a multi-program approach that includes increasing community RJ literacy through community education, presence and support within the education system and case management through criminal diversion to ensure at risk youth are identified and diverted away from traditional carceral systems into supportive systems that promote inclusiveness and belonging resulting in positive impacts on mental and behavioral health healing.
Outline of Responsibilities:
- Conduct workshops and trainings for educators on RJ principles and benefits.
- Conduct and/or coordinate RJ based training for students
- Manage schools’ RJ active caseload, including pre-conference, community group conference and all accountability follow-up.
- Create, manage and track all required data required by the program and provide monthly reports.
- All reports and data should remain accessible at all time to FCRJ Executive Director
- Attending weekly staff meetings to give input on progress and brainstorm solutions to challenges.
- Responding to phone and email inquiries for the Full Circle Restorative Justice (FCRJ) Restorative Schools’ Program.
- Coordinate scheduling for the training programs with outside parties to ensure meetings are confirmed and completed.
- Maintain forms and training materials for the programs and ensure copies and distributions are ready for each event.
- Distribute survey forms to groups before and after trainings so that we collect data about the effectiveness of the Community Services Program.
- Support Board meetings by submitting a monthly board report detailing your progress and challenges for the month.
- Offer support to other program managers by serving as a co-facilitator or community member for FCRJ cases.
- Manage Schools' Program volunteers including;
- Coordinate with FCRJ Community Outreach Manager to schedule and conduct volunteer recruitment meetings for FCRJ.
- Coordinate with FCRJ Community Outreach Manager to organize and help provide ongoing advanced volunteer training for all volunteers.
- Scheduling Community Volunteers for RJ conferences
- Submit appropriate documentation to ED for invoicing and reimbursements of CS program.
- Assist ED with accumulating grant supporting materials
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Restorative Justice Principles. Experience working as an RJ facilitator is extremely helpful.
- 5 years experience in education preferred
· 1-year experience facilitating “RJ Circles.”
· Knowledge and ability to perform program management and development procedures
· Tech savvy, proficient in Google Drive, MS Office
· Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
· Outgoing with the ability to establish and maintain mutually beneficial positive relationships.
· A combination of independent and team working styles
· Excellent time-management and organizational skills
· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
· Detail-oriented and efficient
· Mediation or conflict resolution experience helpful
