Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in a well-established acute care hospital setting in New Orleans. This role is ideal for an RN with strong critical care experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
The ICU RN will provide advanced, patient-centered care to critically ill patients, utilizing clinical expertise, sound judgment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs and clinical status
- Administer medications, including IV drips, titratable medications, and life-support therapies
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment (ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, etc.)
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and critical care processes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EMR systems
- Ensure adherence to patient safety, infection control, and hospital protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1–2 years of ICU or critical care experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ventilators, drips, and critical care protocols
- BSN preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
- CCRN certification (or willingness to obtain)
