Summary
As an Employment Coach, you will be responsible for supporting clients obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment. In this role you will work collaboratively with the client, their employer, and the employment team to foster skill development, promote independence, and support long-term job achievement. Additionally, you will work closely with the Program Manager to offer the best services for all clients of the agency.
Primary Duties:
- Exhibit proficiency at identifying and addressing complex client needs and modeling this behavior for other staff
- Supporting clients in identifying interests, skills, and desired employment outcomes
- Providing direct coaching to help individuals perform job tasks independently and successfully
- Collaborating with employers to support successful job integration and address workplace encounters
- Assisting in identifying needed strategies to eliminate workplace challenges
- Monitoring progress and satisfaction related to employment goals identified in treatment plans or vocational plans
- Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate the condition of the client. Modify treatment plans according to changes in client status
- Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress concerning treatment goals
- Ensuring all supports are directly aligned with the Treatment Plan or Vocational Plan
- Utilizing required electronic systems to document services and monitor progress
- Communicating effectively with team members, employers, and other stakeholders
- Advocating for clients’ employment rights and promoting informed choice
- Participating in staff meetings, training, and supervision sessions as required
- Supporting clients during onboarding, training, and ongoing work tasks
- Being responsive to issues, concerns, or successes shared by clients, their employers, and treatment team members
- Accessing and utilizing community resources that may support employment success
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
- An active Ohio Certified Peer Recovery Supporter Certification or Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Certification is preferred
- Experience working with the substance abuse population preferred
- Must carry out detailed written and oral instructions, along with the ability to understand human behavior
- Must maintain a professional demeanor while dealing with emotionally charged individuals and issues
- Must effectively present information and respond to questions from a diverse demographic group
- Must be able to make decisions at times with imperfect information
- Must have the ability to write reports and correspondence
- Must have effective listening and communication skills
- Understand the elements of addiction and community resources
- Empathy, active listening, and strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain boundaries and uphold confidentiality
- Proficient computer skills
- Willingness to support the agency’s mission and philosophy
- Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team and independently
- Strong Organizational Skills with working knowledge of Community Resources
- This position may require the use of a Company or personal vehicle. Candidates much have a valid driver’s license and possess the ability to provide proof of auto insurance
