Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive emissions tests on a wide range of vehicles, including passenger cars, trucks, and specialty vehicles, following established protocols.
- Inspect vehicle components related to emissions systems, such as catalytic converters, exhaust systems, and sensors, to identify potential issues or malfunctions.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform repairs or adjustments necessary for passing emissions standards.
- Document inspection results accurately and prepare detailed reports for regulatory compliance and record-keeping purposes.
- Assist vehicle owners with explanations of test results and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with automotive service technicians or repair shops when repairs are needed to meet emission standards.
- Maintain all testing equipment in proper working order through regular calibration and safety checks, ensuring reliable results.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems, especially emissions-related components.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment.
- Experience in vehicle maintenance or automotive repair is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of auto body repair techniques and auto restoration processes is a plus.
