Position Summary:
The Accounting Lead position plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the accounts payable and accounts receivable operations within our organization. The Accounting Lead ensures accuracy and compliance in the AP/AR area of the financial process. They also prepare reports, enforce accounting policies, and ensure adherence to legal requirements
This position is a corporate position located at our corporate office 1800 Industrial Drive, Findlay, Oh 45840
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
AP/AR Oversight
- Assign tasks and monitor work of accounting (AP/AR) team
- Ensure timeliness of month-end and year-end closing as it pertains to AP/AR activity.
- Review work for accuracy and completeness to comply with internal controls
Process Coordination
- Help achieve and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly accounting processes
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payments to vendors, submission of customer invoices, and collection from customers.
- Verify transaction information, schedule, prepare disbursements and obtain authorization for payments.
- Resolve account discrepancies internally and externally (vendors/customers)
- Maintain consistency in procedures and cross training across the team
Training and Support
- Mentor and assist AP/AR team, providing training and development to enhance their skills on systems, policies, and best practices
- Be the go-to for process questions or technical clarifications
Communication Liaison
- Relay information between team and upper management
- Draft reports/summaries for controller
- Communication issues that need escalation
Light analysis or Reporting
- Generate basic reports
- Reconcile accounts or help prep materials for month-end close
- Maintain updated records through organization of usable information
System Maintenance
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting software and systems to improve strong reporting efficiency.
- Help implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of this job.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in general accounting, past supervision of a team preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, accuracy and team leadership skills.
- Above average communication skills – orally and in written format
- Basic computer skills in the utilization of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Experience with an Accounting system
- Organization skills
- Initiative and leadership traits.
