Mechanical Drafting/CAD Technician
Location: Hybrid schedule based in Wilmington, NC (Work from home 3 days per week)
Summary:
As a member of a global drafting department, the Mechanical Drafting Technician will assist in the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD) for custom-designed process equipment used across multiple manufacturing locations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Correct redlined models and drawings provided by drafting leads or engineering/development teams.
- Convert legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associative drawings.
- Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models created by other users.
- Collect data from engineering teams and incorporate information into appropriate drawings.
- Gather measurements and information from the production floor for drawing updates.
Work Environment:
- Contract position through a third-party staffing firm, typically one year in length with potential for extension based on performance and workload.
- Hybrid work schedule: on-site two days per week, remote three days per week.
- Base schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM; overtime frequently required (target of 45 hours per week).
- Some travel within North Carolina (approximately 10%).
Required Education:
Candidates should possess one of the following (or a comparable technical degree with demonstrated drafting skills):
- A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology
- A.O.S. in Drafting/CAD
- Drafting Certificate/Certification
Candidates without a degree must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting along with at least 2 years of experience as a Drafting/CAD Technician or in mechanical engineering roles.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in mechanical drafting.
- Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.
- General proficiency with Windows-based computer systems.
- Skilled in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software.
- Ability to adapt quickly to company drafting standards and guidelines.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $33.33 per hour
Expected hours: 42 – 45 per week
