Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yard Jockey to efficiently move and position trailers within our facility. This role is essential for maintaining smooth yard operations, ensuring timely loading and unloading, and supporting overall logistics flow. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial driving, with specific experience in yard operations, truck driving, and trailer management. Candidates should be comfortable operating various types of trucks and equipment, including tractor-trailers, and refrigerated trailers. Duties
- Safely maneuver tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty trucks within the yard to position trailers for loading, unloading, or storage.
- Connect and disconnect trailers from tractors with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections of yard trucks and trailers to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and yard activities.
- Support the overall organization of the yard by ensuring trailers are parked correctly and efficiently.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving environments.
- Experience operating different trailer types such as refrigerated trailers.
- Strong knowledge of coordinating trailer movements with warehouse staff.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Strong ability to operate tractor-trailers with precision in tight yard spaces.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to commercial vehicle operation and yard management. This role requires a dedicated individual committed to safety and efficiency in a dynamic logistics environment while demonstrating strong driving skills across various truck types.
Pay: $23.00 - $28.25 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 48.0 per week
