JOB OVERVIEW
The Lead Detail Inspector(s) are responsible for the direct oversight of the Detail Inspection team, performing preliminary, hidden-damage, in-process, final Inspections, and perform return to service functions on all civil aviation articles received by this repair station in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturer's instructions for continued airworthiness, operator technical data, service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable and/or approved by the FAA.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate inspections of the maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration of a powerplant, aircraft or appliance, or a part thereof, received at this repair station.
- Oversee and coordinate inspections and required inspections in accordance with the methods, standards, and limits required by the accepted or approved data to determine that the work was satisfactorily completed.
- Audit all inspection paperwork for completeness, task compliance, and deliver finalized documents to Records Dept.
- Assist and train new and current inspectors in performing inspection tasks as specified on Company job cards, repair, and routing travelers, recording discrepancies as required.
- Oversee the work performed by Inspectors who are unfamiliar with the methods, techniques, practices, and equipment used to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis for nonconformances and audit corrective actions, including installed parts/material tags, tools and equipment used, proper signoff and references.
- Ensure work performed by outside sources and incorporated in articles undergoing maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration was properly performed and documented.
- Oversee and coordinate receiving inspection on incoming parts, materials, and tooling to ensure Company standards and requirements are met and generate the applicable identification tags.
- In the absence of the Director of Inspection lead the Detail Inspection activities.
- Communicate efficiently with all employee levels.
Qualifications:
- Airframe and Powerplant license
- High School or equivalent and basic computer skills
- Must possess exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in the inspection methods, techniques, aids, tools, and equipment used in aircraft jet engine maintenance.
- 3 – 5 years experience as an inspector for aircraft jet engine maintenance.
- Familiar with all regulatory requirements that govern the maintenance of aircraft jet engine.
- Must be able to communicate Inspection Priorities to inspection personnel in a clear and concise manner.
- Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Lead Inspector preferred.
- Experienced with borescope inspection and interpretation of technical data during the borescope process preferred.
Job Demands:
Work is performed in a Shop environment and requires the ability to perform extensive standing, driving, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to manipulate up to 100lbs. with assistance. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb to reach materials, and work in a noisy environment.
