This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The incumbent serves as the Chief of the Guards and has overall responsibility for managing a large guard workforce with the primary function of conducting access control to the installation and additional missions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with a federal, state, municipal, local or private protective organization leading security guard personnel workforce. Coordinating with other organizational units and external law enforcement agencies (local, state, federal) to ensure a cohesive security posture. Performing access control operations, safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets, using physical access control equipment within a large security guard workforce. Experience regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to include providing initial response to traffic accidents, answering regulatory and procedural questions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
