Veterinary Assistant Job Description
Fryeburg Animal Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various duties, including preparing animals for exams and surgery, performing medical treatments, and administering medications under their direction.
- Obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.)
- Work in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs and provide excellent customer service to clients and their pets.
Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with assistance from a coworker.
- Sufficient ambulatory skills to navigate the hospital and work environment.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills necessary to perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
