Job Description
Under direct supervision, participates in formal and on-the-job training programs to achieve and maintain the Maryland Police Training Commission and institutional requirements. Performs the duties of an entry level Police Officer.

University Police Officer I (
UPO
I)
The University Police Officer I,starts at an annual salary of $51,500. After successfully completing the mandatory police officer training conducted by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission, the UPO I must then successfully complete a one-year probationary period. At that time, the UPO I position promotes to a UPO II.
University Police Officer II (
UPO
II) - Lateral Transfers
Applicants who have satisfactorily completed a Maryland Police Training Commission recognized or approved Police Academy Training program and a Police Field Training program and have been certified as a sworn Police Officer recognized by the Maryland Police Training Commission may be appointed at the rank of University Police Officer II. Starting salary for all UPO II lateral transfers will be determined based on years of service.
