We’re known for delivering on our three pillars: Safety, Quality, and Production. As we grow, we’re building a high-performing maintenance team that keeps our fleet reliable, compliant, and jobsite-ready.

We are seeking a dedicated, experienced Fleet Mechanic to join our team in Pacific, WA. This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior mechanic who can independently diagnose complex issues, drive preventative maintenance, and help raise the standard for fleet uptime and safety.

Job Overview

You will maintain and repair a diverse construction fleet to support safe, on-time production. You’ll troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, diesel, HVAC/A/C, and mechanical systems, perform DOT-related inspections/repairs, and contribute to a strong preventative maintenance (PM) program to maximize equipment availability and reduce downtime. Our fleet includes a mix of Isuzu, Cummins, MAC, Peterbilt, Detroit, and CAT platforms, plus specialty equipment such as sweepers, milling machines, and road striping/pavement marking equipment (paint systems, pumps, spray guns, hoses, valves, air systems, heaters/burners, and glass bead dispensers), including propane/diesel-fired heaters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair light- to heavy-duty construction equipment, prioritizing safety, uptime, and quality workmanship.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and HVAC/A/C issues using service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) per OEM/operations manuals; identify wear trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Complete DOT inspections and ensure equipment remains compliant and road-ready.
  • Remove and replace components using appropriate hand/power tools; verify repairs through functional testing and documentation.
  • Fabricate, weld, and cut parts as needed (arc welding, wire feed, and flame cutting).
  • Troubleshoot and repair pavement marking/striping systems, including paint circulation and pressure issues, clogged lines, worn packings/seals, spray pattern problems, and electrical/solenoid or pneumatic controls.
  • Service and calibrate glass bead delivery systems and striping components (dispensers, gates, sensors, air systems) to support consistent application and quality.
  • Support readiness of striping trucks/equipment by performing pre-season inspections, PMs, and functional checks on paint, bead, heater, and air/hydraulic systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, batteries, lubrication, filters) and support seasonal readiness (heaters, striping systems, etc.).
  • Work safely and consistently follow established Company Safety Policies and procedures.
  • Partner with operations/supervision on repair priorities, parts needs, and scheduling to minimize downtime.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience as a fleet/heavy equipment mechanic (more experience welcome).
  • Strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and DOT-related inspections/repairs.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Manual dexterity and strong hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift/transport 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and safety-focused.
  • Provide your own basic hand tools (specialty tools are provided).

Preferred

  • Technical degree and/or industry certifications (diesel/heavy equipment, hydraulics, ASE or similar).
  • Experience maintaining pavement marking/striping equipment (striping trucks, paint systems, pumps, burners/heaters, and glass bead systems).
  • Experience using a maintenance tracking system/CMMS and documenting repairs/PMs.
  • Root-cause troubleshooting mindset; ability to recommend reliability improvements and standard work.
  • Experience mentoring junior mechanics or leading work in a shop/field environment.
  • Valid Class B Driver’s License with clean driving record. Class A strongly preferred. HazMat endorsement (or ability to obtain) is a plus.

Union wages benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance; pension; and paid sick leave.
