What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fly Fishing Travel Advisor position at Frontiers International Travel?
Department: Sporting Travel
Location: Gibsonia, PA (In-Office, Hybrid Possible After Training)
Schedule: Monday–Friday
FLSA Status: Full-Time
Salary: $52,000–$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Some people follow sports scores. Others follow river flows, hatch reports, and where the fishing is good this year.
If you have a passion for fly fishing and enjoy talking with anglers about where they should fish next, Frontiers International Travel may be the right place for you.
We are looking for someone who can combine a genuine love for the sport with strong communication and sales instincts to help anglers plan exceptional fly fishing trips around the world.
Whether you are early in your career or bringing experience from another field, what matters most is knowledge of the sport, curiosity about destinations, the ability to build trust with clients, and the drive to turn conversations into booked trips.
About Frontiers International Travel
Frontiers International Travel is a family-owned travel company based in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Since 1969, we have helped clients explore the world through carefully designed sporting and luxury travel experiences.
Within our Sporting Travel division, we specialize in custom fly fishing and wing-shooting adventures across six continents. From remote salmon rivers in Iceland to spring creeks in New Zealand and classic lodges in Patagonia, our team works closely with outfitters and lodges around the world to create seamless trips built around the sports our clients love.
We are not an agency that focuses mainly on volume. We focus on expertise, deep relationships with the world’s best outfitters, and long-term trust with our clients.
About the Role
We are looking for a Fly Fishing Travel Advisor to join our Sporting Travel team in Pittsburgh.
This role is primarily focused on sales and client relationships. Advisors regularly speak with prospective and returning clients, answer questions, guide trip decisions, and help anglers select destinations and lodges that match their interests and expectations.
Much of the role involves direct conversation with clients. Successful advisors are comfortable spending a significant portion of their day on the phone with clients, following up on inquiries, discussing trip options, and helping anglers move from interest to booking.
While sales and client relationships are the primary focus, advisors also work closely with lodges and outfitters around the world to design well-planned itineraries and coordinate the details that ensure each trip runs smoothly from the first call through the client’s return home.
While this is primarily an office-based role, advisors are occasionally expected to participate in familiarization and research travel to destinations, lodges, and fisheries that Frontiers offers. These trips allow advisors to develop firsthand knowledge of the experiences we recommend to clients and are an important part of product knowledge and professional development within the role.
What You’ll Do
- Speak regularly with prospective and repeat clients about fly fishing travel opportunities
- Follow up with new leads and inquiries
- Guide prospective clients toward the right destinations and lodges
- Address common questions or concerns and help clients feel confident booking with Frontiers
- Design and book custom fly fishing trips around the world
- Coordinate with lodges, outfitters, and guides to plan trip logistics
- Prepare proposals, itineraries, and trip documentation
- Build long-term relationships with clients who travel with us year after year
Advisors should expect to spend a significant portion of their day speaking with clients by phone and email.

We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds. Passion for the sport, an internal drive to help clients and close sales, and a willingness to learn are far more important than a specific industry résumé.
