Job Summary:
The School Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and attractive outdoor areas across school campuses. This position supports a positive learning environment by ensuring school grounds are well-kept, hazard-free, and visually welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns, fields, and landscaped areas
- Maintain playgrounds, athletic fields, and outdoor common areas
- Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges to ensure safety and appearance
- Remove litter, leaves, snow, and debris from walkways and grounds
- Assist with seasonal landscaping projects and campus beautification
- Operate and maintain grounds equipment and tools safely
- Inspect grounds daily for hazards and report safety concerns
- Support school events by setting up and breaking down outdoor areas
- Follow school district safety policies and procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous grounds keeping or landscaping experience preferred
- Knowledge of lawn care, basic landscaping, and outdoor maintenance
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Background check required (school environment)
- Valid driver’s license required
Work Schedule:
- Full-time or part-time, based on school needs
- Early mornings, summers, and seasonal work required
- Occasional weekend or event support
