Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance, daily operations, and profitability of a roofing supply branch. This position leads store employees, manages inventory and warehouse operations, provides excellent customer service, supports sales growth, and ensures that products are accurately received, stored, and delivered.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, experience in building materials, roofing, construction, distribution, or a related industry, and the ability to manage a fast-paced branch environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the roofing supply store and warehouse.
- Lead, coach, train, and motivate branch employees to achieve operational and customer service goals.
- Develop a strong customer-focused culture and maintain positive relationships with contractors, roofers, builders, and other customers.
- Oversee sales activities and work with the sales team to meet or exceed branch revenue and profitability goals.
- Manage inventory levels, product availability, receiving, stocking, transfers, and cycle counts.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and minimize product loss, damage, and shrinkage.
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of roofing materials, including shingles, underlayment, flashing, insulation, tools, and accessories.
- Ensure customer orders are accurately pulled, staged, and ready for pickup or delivery.
- Coordinate delivery schedules and work closely with drivers to ensure safe and timely deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional showroom, yard, warehouse, and loading areas.
- Ensure all employees follow company safety policies and proper material-handling procedures.
- Monitor branch expenses and assist with budgeting and cost control.
- Resolve customer concerns and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Review daily sales, inventory, operational, and performance reports.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and employee development.
- Build relationships with local contractors and identify opportunities to increase branch sales.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in branch management, store management, building materials, roofing supply, construction, distribution, or a related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Knowledge of roofing materials and construction products strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift, move, and work around heavy building materials as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and work outdoors as needed.
- Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with assistance or appropriate equipment for heavier materials.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate or oversee the use of forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
