In this role, you’ll oversee all aspects of project execution — including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client relations — while providing leadership to internal teams and coordinating efforts among subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of heavy civil infrastructure projects, including preconstruction, procurement, execution, and closeout.
- Develop and oversee detailed project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, and work plans to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate and manage engineering, field operations, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet project milestones and performance goals.
- Administer prime contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Review and approve progress payments, change orders, and project documentation.
- Serve as the primary interface with the client, owner’s representatives, and key project stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate project risks related to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and safety audits to ensure adherence to company and industry standards.
- Lead project meetings, prepare progress reports, and communicate status updates to executive leadership.
- Foster collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant PMs, and Superintendents.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
- 15 years of progressive experience in leading large-scale heavy civil or infrastructure projects (e.g., bridges, tunnels, highways, rail, water/wastewater, or mass transit).
- Experience in tunneling or underground construction is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of self-perform operations, means and methods, and heavy civil construction processes.
- Demonstrated success managing projects $500M in value and overseeing multiple phases concurrently.
- Expertise in contract administration, cost control, risk management, and project scheduling.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore, or equivalent construction management tools.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with a proven ability to drive results and build effective teams.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety standards, environmental compliance, and quality control practices.
- PMP certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification strongly preferred.
