Description
As a Buyer at Frontier-Kemper, reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the acquisition of materials and services required at our Evansville, Indiana office and construction jobsites located throughout the United States and Canada.
- Solicit quotes, evaluate proposals, and negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders to meet project and jobsite requirements, ensuring compliance with pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms.
- Track and monitor purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any delays.
- Review and reconcile discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and deliveries.
- Serve as the primary liaison between company personnel and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships and resolve issues quickly.
- Prior experience in underground mining, heavy civil construction, fabrication, or electrical/construction industries is highly beneficial.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Oracle/JDE systems preferred but not required.
- Strong typing and data entry skills (minimum 50 wpm).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across teams and with external vendors.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and professional, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
