JOB TITLE Recruiter/Trainer
SUMMARY:
Provide recruitment, selection and training of foster and adoptive families for the TRACES and Families 4-Ever programs. May also carry a small therapeutic foster care or adoption caseload.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mental health related field preferred.
Licensure: Valid driver’s license.
Certification: Must possess or obtain highest level of certification appropriate to degree.
Experience: Experience in mental health case management, therapeutic foster case or adoption services required. Prefer 2 years experience in therapeutic foster care or adoption services.
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of therapeutic foster care, home studies, adoptions or continuum programs.
Verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
Ability to safely operate motor vehicle.
Ability to develop and implement training programs.
EQUIPMENT: Computer, fax, copier, motor vehicle and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement creative marketing strategies for recruitment of foster and adoptive parents using media, civic, church and other speaking engagements and presentations.
2. Conduct interviews with individuals and/or family members in a therapeutic manner so as to obtain critical and thorough information, provide written documentation of information obtained and exercise good judgment in evaluating situation, making decisions and implementing effective strategies.
3. Screen, interview and select prospective foster and adoptive parents.
4. Complete all home study requirements according to policy and training curriculum guidelines on selected applicants and coordinate w/ DCS, the court system, attorneys and the school systems.
5. Develop and implement the required 40 hours of pre-service training for selected applicants and assist in the ongoing training with existing foster and adoptive parents on a bi-monthly basis.
6. Will maintain a small caseload of therapeutic foster care of adoption cases until assigned to another case worker and be able to perform all required contacts and paperwork for these cases according to specific program guidelines.
7. Maintain client confidentiality according to Center policies.
8. Remain current in knowledge of community resources and how to access those resources.
9. Keep supervisors apprised of all critical or emergency situations.
10. Responds to emergency/crisis or walk-in situations calmly, rationally and in accordance with center policy and procedures.
11. Participate in inservice training and orientation and provide consultation and education services to the community as requested by supervisor/administration.
12. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle to ensure the delivery of community based services.
13. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and inservices and individual program planning staffings as needed.
14. All other duties as assigned.
