The Clinician is a member of a multi-disciplinary team, which provides telephonic and outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services to individuals and families. The primary goals of the Community Diversion Unit (CDU) are to divert individuals from admission to an emergency department, the criminal justice system, and inpatient psychiatric treatment while maximizing the use of community resources for stabilization purposes. These programs serve individuals who could have a co-occurring disorder and might also be homeless. The CDU serves individuals of all ages. CDU will serve individuals who are confirmed or potential Trueblood class members.

SHIFT(S) AVAILABLE: 2 OPENINGS

  • Monday- Friday 10:30AM-7PM - There is added shift differential to the base pay as listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Staff receive direct referrals from co-responder teams with SPD, SCSO, SFD, MRRCT and any other third-party referral source identified by the director.

  • Provide crisis and hospital diversion services to youth, adults, and families in a behavioral health crisis and facilitate use of/access to crisis hospital diversion resources.

  • Provide initial and follow-up phone and face to face assessments for individuals who are at moderate or high risk.

  • Complete suicide and homicide risk assessments to determine the level of response needed to maintain the safety of the client or others.

  • In collaboration with client and their support network, develop stabilization and safety plans.

  • Complete comprehensive documentation which supports the safety plan as indicated.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of community resources and ability to access resources to support and address client needs.

  • Develop follow-up plans for at risk/high risk children, youth, and families to ensure stabilization and/or services obtained.

  • Ensure discharge plans include the client’s input/participation and are appropriate to the client’s needs/level of risk and are time limited.

  • Maintain working relationships with the courts, attorneys, providers, police and sheriff's deputies, jail staff, clinical and administrative persons at inpatient psychiatric facilities throughout the state, staff of other agencies, advocates and consumer groups and citizens.

  • Participate in Peer Review, supervision, in-center educational and administrative meetings as directed.

  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with agency policies and practices.

  • Assist non-Medicaid individuals to access Medicaid as appropriate.

  • Provide case management and wrap-around services as needed.

  • Assist clients in obtaining basic needs such as emergency housing/shelter services, financial assistance, medical services, medications, and other resources that will help them maintain stability in the community.

  • Provide coaching, advocacy, information and referral, linkage and coordination with resources, and ongoing supports.

  • CDU requires travel to see clients in the community and travel between work sites.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in behavioral health or related field- Pay will be determined based on degree level and licensure as indicated below.

  • Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated – Registered credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.

  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license, active car insurance and must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.

PREFERRED:

  • Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations preferred.

  • Professional licensure in the state of Washington.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong engagement and customer service skills, empathy, ability to remain calm, professional, and clear headed during escalated situations.

  • Knowledge and skills in working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

  • Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of all WAC and RCW requirements for Crisis and Involuntary Treatment Services

  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education level, and socio-economic status.

  • Demonstrate evidence of critical thinking, decision-making ability, problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.

  • This position provides client services in community settings on a daily basis. Community settings include but are not limited to residences, group/congregate living settings, hospitals, shelters, the streets or anywhere in the community at large.

  • Some environments may not be ideal in terms of cleanliness or being habitable.

  • Daily travel between locations is required.

  • The ability to drive a vehicle, traverse distances up to several city blocks and on various terrains, navigate stairs, get in and out of vehicles frequently is required.

  • Daily use of a computer is required.

  • May be required to lift 10 - 20 pounds.

  • Blood-borne Pathogen Category III - No predictable exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

PAY RANGE (Hourly/ Non-Exempt):

  • Clinician I - Bachelor's Degree: $25.89 - $31.53

  • Clinician II - Master's Degree: $31.84 - $38.79

  • Clinician III - Licensed: $34.72 - $41.06

All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus the starting pay for this position is as follows:

  • Clinician I - Bachelor's Degree: $25.89 per hour

  • Clinician II - Master's Degree: $31.84 per hour.

  • Clinician III - Licensed: $34.72 per hour

There is added shift differential of 3.12% for the Monday-Friday 10:30AM-7PM shift to the base pay above.
