What Will You Be Doing?
The primary role of a Station Support/Network Specialist is to provide leadership and accountability for the delivery of IT Infrastructure services to airports serviced by Frontier Airlines. This responsibility includes establishing and maintaining relations with business leadership, accountability for the delivery of business projects, and the coordination of a variety of resources that may include IT staff, airport personnel, business unit staff, contractors, and facilities.
This is a Senior Technical role that supports a variety of computer and operating systems, PC hardware and software installation, and addresses complex operator problems. The Station Support Specialist will directly interface with airline management personnel, airport management, and vendors as part of their daily activities.
Essential Functions
- Assesses and prioritizes network circuit deliverables, perform network equipment deployments, and preventative maintenance work to maintain operational standards required by the business
- Assumes ownership and accountability for a subset of locations served by Frontier Airlines
- Performs technical investigations, process analysis, and root cause analysis as needed to resolve IT-related issues that impact operations
- Collaborates and builds relationships with business leadership to partner and align IT operations to set and meet expectations related to business objectives
- Develop implementation and project plans to support the IT components for airport openings and closings, as well as equipment moves, adds, and changes (MACs).
- Works cross-functionally with other IT departments, customer-facing business units, facilities, and external vendors to complete project deliverables.
- Directs the activities of other IT personnel on network-related issue resolution and project work
- Serves as an escalation resource for more junior station support personnel, business, and IT management.
- Develops and implements IT and business processes to ensure standardization of systems, deployments, and technical issues.
- Documents the location and interconnection of IT equipment at airports and other company locations using Microsoft Visio.
- Identifies and investigates problems and trends, determines what options exist to resolve, and owns the issue until closed.
- Works with vendors and airport authorities to execute pre-defined cable plans and ensures adherence to IT standards for placement, labeling, termination, and location.
- Identifies the root cause of network connectivity problems and troubleshoots connectivity problems for users or user groups using critical thinking, diagnostic testing software, and equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking components and related equipment.
- Installs new hardware or software systems or components, ensuring integration with existing network systems.
- Creates or updates technical documentation for network installations or changes to existing installations.
- Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Monitors network performance to determine whether configuration adjustments are needed and whether optimization changes will be needed in the future.
- Evaluate local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure proper allocation of resources during project planning stages, identify opportunities for optimization post-project implementation, and prepare plans for disaster recovery.
- Analyzes network data to determine network usage, resource availability, or server function.
- Defines station-specific requirements and parameters for installation and testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) circuits, routers, switches, controllers, multiplexers, or related networking equipment.
- Analyzes network traffic for patterns, anomalies, bandwidth utilization, and performance opportunities.
- Implements and configures Wireless Access Points (WAP) resources
- Configures security settings and access permissions for groups or individuals.
- Ensures the resolution of service desk, departmental, and user requests while following proper escalation procedures when required.
Other Functions
Work with external vendors and partner support as necessary to accomplish department and/or business goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or equivalent experience
- Troubleshooting knowledge of LAN, WAN and Wireless Technologies
- 5 years’ experience supporting MS Windows
- 5 years’ experience supporting networked printers
- 5 years’ experience with PC hardware and software
- Previous Supervisory or Management Experience required
- IT Project Management Experience preferred
- 8 years of Airline Experience / Airline operations
- 8 years of Airport knowledge
- 5 years of fiber optics
- Production of cable and maps (Viso)
- 4 Telcom and Telecom Circuit knowledge
- 4 years of using IT help desk ticketing systems
- CompTIA A certification
- CompTIA Network certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
