Duties

  • Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, to maintain and improve patients’ oral health.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
  • Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and preparing patients for various treatments.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical history in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Support the dental team with general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry needs, including pediatric-specific care when applicable.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to ensure precise documentation and billing.
  • Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient record management.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures aligned with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting during various dental procedures with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health and the ability to review documentation thoroughly for accuracy.
  • Experience providing patient care in pediatric dentistry environments is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is valued.
