Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, to maintain and improve patients’ oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and preparing patients for various treatments.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical history in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support the dental team with general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry needs, including pediatric-specific care when applicable.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to ensure precise documentation and billing.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient record management.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting during various dental procedures with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health and the ability to review documentation thoroughly for accuracy.
- Experience providing patient care in pediatric dentistry environments is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is valued.
