Our snow clients rely on us to keep sidewalks, entrances, and pedestrian areas safe and accessible throughout each winter storm. We are looking for dependable individuals who can work efficiently as part of a professional sidewalk crew.

About the Position

We are hiring seasonal Snow Shovelers and Sidewalk Crew Members for the 2026–2027 winter season.

Crew members clear sidewalks and pedestrian areas using shovels, commercial snowblowers, and other snow-removal equipment. They also apply deicing materials as directed. Previous commercial snow-removal experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience operating snowblowers and working as part of a routed sidewalk crew.

Storm Availability and Commitment

This is a weather-dependent, on-call position without a fixed weekly schedule. Snow events may require overnight, early-morning, weekend, holiday, or extended shifts.

Applicants must commit to every assigned snow event throughout the season. This is not a flexible call list where employees decide event by event whether to accept work. When winter weather is forecasted, crew members must remain reachable, report when directed, and remain on duty until their assigned properties are complete or they are released by management.

Applicants should not accept this position if another work schedule or obligation could regularly prevent them from reporting during a storm.

Responsibilities

• Clear sidewalks, entrances, stairs, ramps, curb cuts, fire exits, and other designated pedestrian areas
• Operate commercial snowblowers and other sidewalk snow-removal equipment
• Apply bagged deicing materials according to property requirements and supervisor instructions
• Follow property maps, assigned routes, service priorities, and snow-stacking directions
• Work efficiently with other sidewalk crew members to complete properties on schedule
• Revisit and reclear areas during longer storms when directed
• Identify and report ice, drainage problems, property damage, equipment issues, and other hazards
• Maintain communication with the crew leader throughout each snow event
• Accurately document completed work when required
• Clean, inspect, and properly stage tools and equipment following each shift
• Work safely around pedestrians, vehicles, plow trucks, buildings, landscaping, and other obstacles

Qualifications

• Previous commercial snow shoveling or sidewalk crew experience strongly preferred
• Experience operating commercial snowblowers is preferred
• Reliable transportation to the assigned staging location
• Dependable phone service and the ability to respond promptly to storm communications
• Ability to follow instructions, property maps, and assigned service priorities
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a crew with limited supervision
• Ability to work outdoors during snow, ice, wind, darkness, and extreme cold
• Ability to repeatedly shovel snow, bend, walk, push equipment, and remain on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Appropriate cold-weather clothing and waterproof, slip-resistant work boots
• Absolute dependability during assigned snow events
• A valid driver’s license is preferred but not required unless operating a company vehicle
