Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments across diverse specialties such as dermatology, emergency medicine, and internal medicine.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature.
- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining medical histories and documenting symptoms in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration under supervision, X-ray assistance, and basic life support (BLS) procedures.
- Manage medical documentation meticulously, including medical records, ICD coding for diagnoses, and detailed notes on patient interactions.
- Support administrative functions like appointment scheduling, patient intake processes, insurance verification, and maintaining medical office records.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with a background in outpatient care settings or hospital environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
- Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or X-ray tech are advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical assisting techniques in diverse environments including dermatology clinics, urgent care centers, or hospital units like Geriatrics or Medical-Surgical wards.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures such as medication administration, vital signs collection, specimen collection (phlebotomy), and basic radiography support.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently in fast-paced outpatient or inpatient settings.
