Summary

The Front and Main Host is to interact with all guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining at the Hotel. The Host will promptly welcome every guest to the restaurant and escort them to their table. The Host is to ensure that all guests’ needs and expectations are exceeded, and to efficiently and effectively resolve any issues to the guest’s satisfaction. S/he will be responsible for the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet guests and patrons personally as they enter the establishment
  • Answer telephones using appropriate etiquette
  • Accept to-go orders over the telephone
  • Receive and record dining reservations on the telephone
  • Ensure the proper setup of dining room
  • Ensure dining room seating is controlled and that there is server parity in number of tables
  • Ensure neatness and cleanliness of stations.
  • Present menus, make recommendations and take orders if necessary
  • Assist other food and beverage staff when necessary
  • Liaise between staff and customers to ensure great service
  • Ensure personal appearance is neat and professional
  • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs
  • Assist individuals with disabilities
  • Thank guests with genuine appreciation
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures

PREREQUISITES:

  • Prior food and beverage industry experience preferred
  • Prior guest relations training
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, upbeat attitude and personality
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public

Physical Demands:

  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, extending arms over head, bending and stooping.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push or pull. Requires carrying trays of food and bus trays of dishes up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push or pull a vacuum or wheeled cart weighing up to 25 lbs.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Bus tables and assist with processing dirty dishes if necessary
  • Clean all front of the house areas including windows, light fixtures and entrance as assigned
  • Fill water bottles, cut fruit, roll silverware, and complete other service-related tasks as assigned duties:

- Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the establishment
- Escort guests to their assigned tables or waiting areas
- Provide menus and inform guests about daily specials
- Take and manage reservations via phone or in-person
- Manage the waitlist and ensure timely seating of guests
- Maintain a clean and organized host/host station
- Answer phone calls and provide information to callers
- Assist with guest inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations
- Handle guest complaints or concerns in a professional manner

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems, such as Aloha POS, is a plus
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Strong guest service and guest relations skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly and outgoing personality with a positive attitude
- Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
