From The Heart Dog Services – Royal Oak, MI
In-Person | Full-Time (35–40 hours/week)

About Us

From The Heart Dog Services is a structured dog training and behavior program in Royal Oak dedicated to building calm, confident dogs through clear leadership, consistent boundaries, daily exercise, and relationship-based training.

Our trainer-led daycare is not traditional free-play daycare. It is a purposeful, structured environment that provides the guidance, outlets, and calm energy dogs need to truly thrive. We’re growing a team of dedicated professionals who take pride in creating a safe, organized, and genuinely positive experience for dogs and their owners.

Position Overview

We are looking for a reliable, full-time Daycare Attendant who loves hands-on work with dogs and is committed to doing things the right way — with structure, patience, and calm leadership.

This active role is ideal for someone who wants to develop professional dog-handling skills while making a meaningful difference in dogs’ daily lives and long-term behavior. If you’re observant, physically active, detail-oriented, and thrive in a high-standards environment, you’ll fit right in with our purpose-driven team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise structured group activities, rest periods, smooth transitions, and pack walks
  • Guide dogs in maintaining calm behavior during group time
  • Handle client drop-offs, pick-ups, and daily communication with professionalism
  • Closely observe dog behavior and report any concerns to the lead trainer
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and well-organized facility (crates, yards, floors, play areas)
  • Assist with feeding schedules, fresh water access, and medication administration as needed
  • Support safe, efficient daily operations and a positive experience for every dog

What We’re Looking For

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Comfortable and confident handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
  • Reliable, punctual, and available for weekends (peak days currently include Tuesday–Thursday weekends)
  • Physically fit — able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and stay active for full shifts
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions consistently
  • Comfortable working in a loud, active environment with barking dogs
  • Reliable transportation to Royal Oak, MI
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred / A Plus:

  • Previous professional dog experience (daycare, boarding, training, grooming, veterinary, etc.)
  • Passion for structured, relationship-based training methods
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

No prior professional experience is required — we provide thorough, hands-on training to the right motivated candidate who brings a strong work ethic and the right attitude.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-Time: 35–40 hours per week
  • Shifts include mornings, afternoons, and full days (training includes opening and closing procedures)
  • Starting pay: $15.00 – $16.50 per hour, with regular performance reviews and raise opportunities
  • Strong performers can advance into more hours, leadership roles, or training positions as we grow

Benefits

  • 401(k) with company matching, when qualified
  • Employee discount
  • Paid time off, when qualified
  • Ongoing professional development and on-the-job training
  • Supportive team environment focused on high standards and growth
  • Bring your pet to work when approved by the Lead Trainer
