Quaker Oats, a division of PepsiCo, is recruiting Production Associates for full-time opportunities at the Cedar Rapids plant.

Production associates can expect to complete a variety of production duties typically found in a traditional manufacturing setting.

We are open 24 hours a day, which means you may not have a typical schedule. As a Full-Time team member, you would work on average between 40 and 50 hours per week and be eligible to receive full company benefits including health insurance, dental and vision, retirement savings benefits including (k) with company contribution, vacation days and much more.
It's a physical job! If you have never worked in a manufacturing environment before, you should understand that you will be on your feet for the entirety of your shift.
Here is a list of some of the tasks you could expect to perform during once assigned to a role :
The operator sets up and maintains proper adjustments of the machinery and equipment, understands unique qualities of the particular product, and the specific processes of their department.
The worker ensures that the line is running efficiently and is prepared for scheduled production runs. The operator is responsible for overseeing pouch filling and packaging processes.
The employee performs preventative maintenance on equipment, and cleans the equipment and work area.
Responsible for equipment and assets between multiple floors. Troubleshoots and fixes equipment and machinery issues within his / her scope of work;
assists sub-ordinate operators as necessary.
Responsible for the effective startup / shutdown of all palletizing, conveying, automatic label application, slip sheeting, and stretch wrapping equipment.
Moves production lines machine to machine to minimize packaging downtime. Provides Department Manager with written documentation of downtime issues.
Responsible for operation of the equipment that is liable for the flaking of oats, barley, wheat, or related products.
Makes and records quality checks of rolled product as specified. Assumes leader responsibility for his entire shift. Duties assigned to this classification may be varied from time to time where required for effective plant operation
- Safely and efficiently operate forklift to move product and load tractor trailers with palletized product
- Daily housekeeping and cleaning processes for their line
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following minimum qualifications :
- High School Diploma / GED required plus one year of relevant work experience
- A relevant two year Associates / Technical degree is preferred
- Must work effectively in a team environment which requires continued development of new skills, continued drive for productivity and process improvements, self direction and the ability to communicate at all levels
- Must be able to work any shift in any department including an alternative,12 hour work schedule, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of working in a manufacturing environment including, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous / loud equipment, and slippery surfaces
- You can stand and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation
- You can climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Must have the ability to lift moderately heavy weights
- Must be willing to comply with grooming / sanitation requirements
- Must satisfactorily pass pre-employment assessment testing, post offer drug / alcohol screen and background check
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
The wage rate schedule for new hires is :
- Starting rate $26.00
- 1 st Anniversary rate $30.30
- 2 nd Anniversary rate $34.09
- 3 rd Anniversary rate up to $43.01
