To instruct and demonstrate proper swimming skills with an emphasis toward competitive swimming.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:Minimum age 16Special Knowledge/Skills:Must exhibit a love for working with childrenFlexible, positive, and able to try new ideasAbility to work evenings during the school yearAbility to work either mornings, evenings, or both during the summer seasonMaintain a professional, mature, and positive teaching style while instructing Experience:Experience in teaching swimming classes and individuals of various ages and ability levelsCompetitive swimming experience preferredOne year of customer service preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Adhere to the established learn-to-swim curriculum.Create an educational, safe, and inviting experience for all participants.Evaluate all students in their assigned class.Update skill levels through the online registration system.Teach a variety of swim skill levels.Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe.Communicate with parents on a regular basis.Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to high humidity and potential chemical hazards in pool water. Moderate lifting; crouch/kneeling; sitting/standing. Work on slippery surfaces.
