250Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install kitchen and refrigeration equipment throughout the District. Provide support to the Child Nutrition Department by maintaining and providing for the safe condition and operation of all kitchen equipment in District Child Nutrition facilities.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:High School diploma or GEDRefrigeration handling certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of employmentClear and valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of refrigeration repairs, maintenance, and installation techniquesKnowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniquesKnowledge of electrical circuits, wiring and operating principles of motorsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to use software to receive and complete work orders, monitor refrigeration temperatures and communicate with team membersAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to use hand and power tools
Experience:Minimum of 2 years of general maintenance experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Maintenance and Repair:Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of institutional kitchen equipment.
Repair, replace, or calibrate controls.Install kitchen equipment including motors, compressors, and controls according to schematics, relocating as needed.Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all kitchen equipment.Receive and complete work orders.
Select materials and hardware, make time and materials cost estimates, and maintain accurate records on material and labor used.Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials including maintaining records to meet federal requirements.Respond to emergency calls as needed.Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
Flexible to work on-call to address emergencies that occur during non-business hours as needed.

Other Duties as Assigned

Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving. Heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted on a daily basis. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; may work on rooftops; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; may work irregular and prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel . Maintain emotional control under stress .Tools/Equipment Used: Electrical measuring and testing equipment; refrigeration equipment,; welding equipment; hand tools; power tools; light truck or van.
