Friona has eight state-of-the-art feedyards in north Texas and southwest Kansas. We continue to focus on a vertically aligned production system that creates a consistent and reliable product line.
The Friona Intern Program is designed to offer cutting edge experiences in the feedlot industry. We have five departments in each feedyard that support the endeavors and day-to-day feedyard functionality: Cattle, Yard, Mill, Feed Delivery, and Office Support.
- Cattle – Learn to process cattle while applying cattle management best practices.
- Yard – Experience feedyard logistics by recognizing, diagnosing, and trouble shooting daily yard functionality solutions.
- Mill – Learn feeding techniques from start to finish including feed quality and the science of ration management
- Feed Delivery – Complete the feeding cycle by experiencing the applications of effective cattle rations and their effects on animal wellbeing.
- Office Support – Understand the dynamics and data supporting the feedyard process.
Each Friona Intern will be assigned a special project area to manage in order to generate applicable and relevant solutions and will enhance the efficiency and productivity of the feedyard. Topics are chosen according to company needs and learning applications for each candidate. Interns will be asked to present their learning experiences to a team of Friona Executives and Management at the conclusion of the internship program. *This is a paid internship*
