Assistant Yard Maintenance Manager North 2 - Satanta, KS

General Description / Objective

The Assistant Yard Manger reports to the Yard Manager and it assists with managing all general yard maintenance, repair, and daily operations. This role helps communicate all yard activities and troubleshoot daily yard requirements with the yard crew as necessary to ensure efficient yard operations. This position will be responsible for assisting with the operation of various heavy equipment and will ensure the general functionalities of the feedyard in conjunction with the Yard Manager.

Roles and Tasks

• Help coordinate and allocate tasks and responsibilities to the yard crew.
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of all pens and cattle care facilities on a priority basis.
• Ensure that all roadways and alleys are maintained in order of priority.
• Implement and enforce all safety policies and regulations.
• Establish and maintain water trough cleaning schedule as per company policy.
• Create and maintain all preventative maintenance records for all yard equipment.
• Communicate and collaboratively work with the Yard Manager regarding operations.
• Supervise all maintenance activities in the shop.
• Track and maintain yard expense and environmental records.

• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Operate and maintain heavy machinery.

• Knowledge of functionality and operations of watering systems
• Basic construction and maintenance
• expense management and recordkeeping
• Working knowledge of feedyard operation

Minimum Experience Required:

Degree in Agriculture preferred, in lieu of degree, work experience and/or trade school is acceptable.

Position Requirements

Special Conditions / Requirements:

• Hands on operation of yard machinery and equipment
• Considerable vehicular travel around the feedyard
• Physical Requirements Include: standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, shoveling, climbing, working equipment, and driving
• Exposure to weather such as: rain, sleet, snow, hail, heat, cold, wind, and dust
• Hazards Include: Exposure to hazardous chemicals and petroleum products, carbon monoxide exposure, lifting, welding, cutting, and grinding.
