About the Role:

The Counter Sales position is a customer-facing role focused on delivering exceptional service and support to clients visiting the sales counter. The primary goal is to assist customers in selecting products, answering inquiries, and processing sales transactions efficiently and accurately. This role requires maintaining a thorough knowledge of the products and services offered to provide informed recommendations and solutions tailored to customer needs. Additionally, the Counter Sales associate will manage inventory levels, coordinate with other departments, and ensure the sales area is organized and welcoming. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in driving sales growth and fostering positive customer relationships that encourage repeat business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous HVAC experience in retail sales or customer service.
  • Basic proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks such as lifting merchandise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a counter sales role within a related industry such as hardware, automotive, or consumer goods.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software.
  • Additional training or certification in customer service or sales techniques.
  • Bilingual (Spanish is a plus) abilities to assist a diverse customer base.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers promptly and courteously at the sales counter.
  • Provide detailed product information and recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handle cash or electronic payments.
  • Maintain inventory by restocking shelves, conducting stock counts, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and delivery teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Resolve customer complaints or issues professionally and escalate when necessary.
  • Keep the sales counter clean, organized, and visually appealing to enhance the customer experience.
  • Support promotional activities and upsell products to meet sales targets.

The required skills such as effective communication and customer service are essential for engaging with customers, understanding their needs, and providing accurate product information. Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling ensures smooth and error-free transaction processing. Organizational skills are used daily to maintain an orderly sales counter and manage inventory efficiently. Preferred skills like familiarity with inventory software and bilingual communication enhance the ability to serve a broader customer base and streamline stock management. Together, these skills enable the Counter Sales associate to deliver a seamless and positive shopping experience that supports overall business objectives.
