Friendship is looking for PRN Home Care Aides to join our Home Care team who want to make a difference in the health of those in our community! The Home Care Aide is responsible for providing care for clients in their homes. The Aide will assist the client with routine tasks as directed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Assisting clients with personal hygiene, including shower, tub or bed baths, mouth, skin and hair care
• Assisting clients in the use of toilet facilities, including bedpans and/or urinals
• Assisting clients with getting in and out of bed and walking, both with and without medical equipment
• Performing and recording blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse and respirations, when required
• Assisting client with self-medication, meal preparation and feeding
• Documenting and reporting changes to the client’s physical condition, behavior or appearance
• Documenting services delivered in accordance with agency medical records, policies and procedures
• Perform household services that are essential to client health care; changing bed linens, laundry washing, ironing and folding
• Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Supervising Nurse as soon as possible
• Maintain a safe environment for all clients at all times

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must be a licensed CNA in the state of VA or if not certified, must be able to provide a training certificate from a board approved program
• Must have reliable transportation and/or ready access to public transportation at all hours
• Must have ability to travel within 50 mile radius of office location
• This position requires working hours in; private settings (home based care), Friendship Rehab North, Friendship Rehab South, Salem Terrace, and Friendship Assisted Living
• This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds
