Part-Time Praise Band Accompaniment Musician Friendship Lutheran Church 5300 Church Road Taylorsville, NC 28681 Position Title: Part-Time Praise Band Accompaniment Musician Reports To: Director of Music Position Summary The Part-Time Praise Band Accompaniment Musician serves as a member of the church's contemporary worship ministry by providing instrumental accompaniment for the praise band during weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning worship service(s). The musician works collaboratively with the Director of Music and other praise team members to support meaningful, Christ-centered worship through music. Essential Responsibilities Attend and actively participate in weekly Wednesday evening praise band rehearsals. Provide instrumental accompaniment during Sunday morning worship. Arrive on time and prepared for all rehearsals and worship services. Practice music independently as needed to ensure quality musical leadership. Work cooperatively with the Director of Music, pastor, vocalists, and other musicians. Support the mission and ministry of Friendship Lutheran Church through a positive, respectful, and professional attitude. Communicate promptly regarding scheduling conflicts or absences. Qualifications Proficiency on an instrument appropriate for the praise band (such as drums, keyboard, guitar, violin, bass, brass or woodwind instrument, or other approved instrument). Ability to read chord charts and/or sheet music as appropriate. Experience performing in a contemporary worship setting is preferred. Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team. Willingness to support the mission and values of the congregation. Compensation Compensation is provided on a per-service basis as follows: Wednesday Evening Rehearsal: $25 per rehearsal attended. Sunday Morning Worship Service: $50 for worship. Attendance at the Wednesday evening rehearsal immediately preceding the Sunday worship service is required in order to receive compensation for that Sunday's worship service. Exceptions may be approved in advance by the Director of Music for illness, emergencies, or other extenuating circumstances. Schedule Wednesday evening rehearsal (typically begins at 7pm and lasts 1 hour) Sunday morning worship service – arrive by 7:45am for sound check; worship at 8am and typically last no more than 90 minutes Physical Requirements Ability to play the designated instrument for extended periods. Ability to lift and transport personal musical equipment, if applicable. Employment Status This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Compensation is based only on rehearsals and worship services attended and does not include benefits. The church reserves the right to modify the rehearsal and worship schedule as ministry needs require. The Part-Time Praise Band Accompaniment Musician is expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects Christian values and supports the mission and ministry of Friendship Lutheran Church.
