JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Custodian Reports To: Facilities Manager
Hourly Rate: $17.00 Shift: Part-time 15-20 hrs. per week
(may include weekends)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Custodian along with the Facilities Manager has the responsibility for the appearance, maintenance, and security of the building and grounds, as well as the overall cleanliness of
Friendship Community Church’s campus. The Custodian often represents the Church and great care should be taken to make a positive and professional appearance in all circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior custodial/maintenance experience
- Knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques and equipment, such as buffing machines and floor care tools
- Good organizational and planning skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Physical Agility -ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods of time.
- Have reliable transportation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow safety protocols and use proper cleaning techniques to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Adhere to established cleaning schedules and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Set up tables, chairs and other equipment required in advance of meetings as assigned.
Clean-up and tear down following meetings and events. Most meetings and events are responsible for self-clean-up and tear-down.
- Clean all church windows and doors, windowpanes on doors as scheduled.
- Vacuum, dust, mop offices and classrooms on a regular basis.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen.
- Empty trash as needed. Put all garbage in appropriate containers.
- Stock supplies as appropriate in the restrooms and other spaces.
- Disinfect classrooms, kitchen, restrooms on a regular basis.
- Clean the storage and janitorial closets annually or more frequently if necessary.
- Accommodate Weddings and Funerals as needed.

- Spot clean sanctuary and all public areas prior to use.
- Police areas daily for appearance, security, breakage, or malfunctions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
