About the Role
This professional part-time ministry position is responsible for overseeing and directing the music ministry for worship services. This position involves worship planning, musical and technical ability, song selection, rehearsal, and performance evaluation. As a worship leader, the Director of Music encourages the development, refining and display of musical talent among the congregation to the glory of God.
Responsibilities
- Select appropriate music for worship services, taking into account the skill of the worship ensemble and scriptural/sermon themes
- Provide music for most Sunday and midweek (seasonal) services
- Be in communication with the pastor and church secretary
- Attend bi-weekly staff meeting
- Schedule and oversee worship teams and tech team
- Determine key/arrangements of songs and distribute copies to worship teams
- Rehearse with worship/tech teams weekly
- Proofread weekly slides
- Lead worship team in prayer before each service
- Purchase new music as necessary
- Maintain music catalog and files (song bank)
- Direct seasonal choir (Christmas/Easter)
- Offer worship input to the Pastor for special services
- Play for weddings and funerals, if available
- Be professional in appearance and performance
Qualifications
- Spiritual maturity and faithful participation in the worship life of their congregation
- Strong musical ability on vocals, keyboard/piano or guitar
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Familiarity with particulars of contemporary worship and Lutheran theology
- Experienced in directing ensembles and/or conducting choirs in the spirit of excellence and unity
Required Skills

Preferred Skills
- Undergraduate degree in music

Pay range and compensation package
$23-26/Hour based on experience.
