Job Description
At Friendship Public Charter School, the Secondary Math Teacher at Lab School for Dyslexia responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to targeted intervention and instruction. Under the direction of the Principal and in collaboration with the Special Education and Academic teams, this position provides targeted instruction to students who are struggling academically in Mathematics.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides high quality mathematics instruction to individual students and small groups, including the use of manipulatives and hands-on activities
- Uses data to identify specific student learning targets and provides instruction to meet those targets
- Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
- Uses identified research-based interventions focusing specifically on individual student needs
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
- Communicates with families regarding student progress
- Participates in meetings with administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress
- Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
- Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid AR teaching certification required.
- Training in dyslexia.
- Demonstrated experience teaching reading and supporting struggling readers, particularly in an urban school setting.
