Job Description

A secondary art teacher (grades 6-12) guides older students in developing advanced artistic skills, critical thinking, and a personal visual voice. They teach complex techniques in drawing, painting, and digital media while grading portfolios and preparing students for higher-level arts or creative careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction: Teach techniques like drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.
• Theory & History: Explain color theory, elements of design, and art history so students understand art in the real world.
• Lesson Planning: Create engaging projects that match state standards and meet the needs of all learners.
• Assessment: Grade student projects, maintain portfolios, and write progress reports.
• Classroom Management: Keep a safe, clean art studio and teach students how to safely use tools and equipment.

Daily Duties

• Demonstrate: Do live demos of art techniques for students to watch and learn.
• Supply Ordering: Track, organize, and order materials like clay, paint, and paper.
• Showcases: Organize art displays to show off student work to the school and community.
