What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician position at Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter?
Are you passionate about helping shelter animals and want to put your skills to a good cause? Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter is seeking a certified Veterinary Technician part time 3-4 days per week. Schedule is Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9-2p with the occasional Monday. Duties will include:
- Assist shelter veterinarian in all surgical procedures
- Monitor patients under anesthesia
- Recover patients post surgery
- Administer any medications/injections per veterinarian
- Set up for surgery on all vetting days
- Daily & monthly anesthesia machine maintenance
- Administer vaccines per veterinarian
- Restraint of animals
- Venipuncture
- I.V. Catheter placement if required for surgical procedures
- Assist Medical manager and shelter staff in completing treatments & vaccines due for animals at shelter.
- Clean, wrap & sterilize all surgical packs
- Able to fill all prescriptions for animals residing at shelter or in foster care
- Administer preventatives to animals that are due
Salary commensurate with experience.
