The Development Associate (DA), under the direction of the CEO, plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Fund Development & Communications efforts of the organization. The primary focus of the DA is to manage the donor data base (Donor Perfect), donor acknowledgements and associated reporting. This position also participates in all fundraising activities, donor and public relations, and will work with the development team in creating and implementing fundraising strategies for the organization.
Areas of Responsibility
Administrative
- Record and manage individual, corporate and foundation donor profiles in the donor database (Donor Perfect).
- Record all donations (checks, credit card, ACH, in kind) in the database.
- Maintain/update records with accurate information.
- Create monthly donor reports from donor database.
- Reconcile credit card donations/payments through Safe Save and Give Cloud with CEO and accounting team.
- Meet with CEO and Development Officer weekly or as needed.
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors.
Communication
- Prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
- Prepare thank you notes and assist with other donor gifts.
- Update participant, donor, staff and other email addresses in Constant Contact.
- Assist with development of content for monthly emails.
Community
- Cultivate relationships and communication with donors and various community stakeholders.
- Represent FRIENDS through local events in the community.
Fundraising Events and Activities
- Assist in organizing and managing fundraising events/activities.
- Assist in creating and reconciling event budgets.
- Monitor online event registrations and guest lists.
- Solicit and negotiate with vendors providing services for the events.
- Work with development team to solicit, procure and track donations/auction items.
- Assist in organizing materials/supplies/decorations for events.
- Coordinate contacts, supplies and copies for direct mailings.
- Attend and assist with all logistics on the day of the fundraising activity or event.
- Assist with the coordination of volunteers for fundraising activities and events.
- Provide grant support through foundation research as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor's degree in a related field a plus.
- A minimum of two years' experience in an administrative position supporting nonprofit fundraising and development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (with emphasis on Excel).
- Solid experience with Donor Database/Management software programs (Donor Perfect preferred), and event registration platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- A self-starter, data and deadline driven, and ability to multi-task with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – can work effectively with co-workers, participants, families, donors, community members and volunteers.
- Flexible and able to work in a busy fast paced environment.
- Compassionate, sense of humor and a positive attitude.
- Passionate about working for an organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Experience with online invitation platforms (Evite, Event Brite, etc...).
Hours: Business Hours, Monday – Friday. May require attendance at events on evenings and weekends.
Pay: $37,500-$45,000
Classification: Full Time / Non-Exempt
