Position: Infant Room Teacher
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Hourly
Schedule: School Year–Daily, 35 hours -37.50 hours per week
About Friends Academy: Friends Academy, an Independent Quaker Day School (PS-12th Grade), is located on a 65-acre campus on the picturesque North Shore of Long Island. Our educational journey begins in our nurturing daycare program, known as Little Friends. Licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Little Friends caters to children aged 6 weeks to 3 years old. This program is designed to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where our youngest learners can explore, play, and develop essential skills through guided activities and age-appropriate curricula.
About Our Program:
The Little Friends staff is a dedicated, friendly, and supportive team. Many of our teachers have been with the program long-term, contributing to a stable and welcoming environment. Our center operates from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and staff schedules fall within those hours. We also follow a school-year calendar.
Qualifications & Requirements:
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree or have at least 9 college credits (with a plan of study) in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Have a minimum of two years of experience working with young children
- Demonstrate the ability to support and implement developmentally appropriate routines and activities
- Be attentive to developmental milestones and committed to fostering children’s growth in a nurturing, responsive manner
- Be reliable, warm, and enthusiastic about working in a caring and collaborative school environment
- Be able to follow all licensing regulations and NYSOCFS guidelines
- Successfully complete required background screenings
- Demonstrate strong dependability and professionalism
