Position Summary
Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of the Laundry Assistant position. The Laundry Assistant is responsible for daily operation of laundry: collection, washing, drying and distribution of Members' clothing and linen for all units.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collects and distributes laundry to units, physical therapy.
- Washes, dries, irons, spot removal and labels when necessary, personal laundry for Members.
- Washes, dries and irons linen for units.
- Keeps records on laundry processed and distribution.
- Maintains laundry area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Duties may also include performing housekeeping duties in assigned areas: example, maintaining Member rooms and/or areas in an aseptic condition.
- Participates in in-service education and safety programs.
- Performs other duties as required by supervisor or by Administration from time to time.
Expectations of the Position:
- Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service-oriented personality.
- Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).
Qualifications of the Position:
- Education: High school diploma preferred.
- Experience:
- Skills: Reasonably strong, capable of standing for long periods of time.

- Work is performed in a clean, well lit, “Home-Like,” Senior Health Facility and or private home.
- Employee must be able to perform essential job functions (reasonable accommodation may apply).

- May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Members or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Members, visitors and team members during emergency situations.
