Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to tailor personalized treatment plans.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficient and comfortable patient experiences.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and the importance of regular dental visits.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Support infection control standards by practicing aseptic techniques and managing sterilization processes diligently.
Experience
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry within a busy dental clinic environment.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review for accurate recordkeeping.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and medical imaging.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, anatomy basics, and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles if working with children or adolescents.
