Position Summary

Responsible for assisting the ClassroomTeachers in implementing a program of activities that prompts the social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of each child enrolled in the classroom in accordance with Environmental Rating Scales, NAEYC best practice standards, and the policies and procedures of Friendly Avenue Christian Preschool and Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Teaching Team and Preschool Director.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Support the mission, philosophy, core values and objectives of Friendly Avenue Christian Preschool and Friendly Avenue Baptist Church.
• Support the Classroom Teachers in maintaining and implementing the classroom routine, scheduled activities, classroom management and engagement of children in the classroom based on best practice principles of child development in accordance with the school and church’s philosophies, policies and standards.
• Support the Classroom Teachers in maintaining daily records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with all regulatory standards and maintaining a high 5-star rating (Procare).
• Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff professional development.
• Obtain necessary professional development training required each year in a timely manner.
• Help maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is safe, fosters hands on exploitative learning, aesthetically pleasing, engaging for your children, respectful of other ministries of Friendly Ave Baptist Church.
• Assist with daily health and sanitation expectations for all routine care needs.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, families, children and church staff.
• Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests and needs. Then, communicate this information to the Classroom Teachers to assist in facilitating growth and learning.
• Assist in completing routine reports to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and the policies and procedures of Friendly Avenue Christian Preschool (Incident Reports, Medication Forms, Sleep Charts, Etc).
• Responsible for assisting the FACP Administrative Team and Classroom Teachers in implementing Parent Involvement Activities.
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.
• Conduct yourself in a professional, Christ-like manner at all times.
• Responsible for ministering to children and families as the need arises reporting significant ministry concerns to the administrator or Pastor.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to relate positively with young children, parents, and staff.
• Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
• Effective and strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community-based agencies.
• Must be a professing Christian.
• Demonstrate Christian values that support the goals and objectives of Friendly Ave Christian Preschool and Friendly Ave Baptist Church.

Physical Capabilities

• Able to lift 30 lbs.
• Able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
• Spend time outdoors daily in all seasons of weather.

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
