Summary: The Assistant Store Manager are responsible for leadership and mentorship of our Team Members, Department Heads, processes and policies throughout the store. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for the development and monitoring of Team Member’s growth, development and career paths. As a Business Channel owner, the Assistant Store Manager is responsible for the productivity of multiple Department Heads and Team Members within that specific channel. This position helps to create the balance of Team Member needs, customer demands and the value of the business, demonstrated through living the Friedman’s Core Values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees departments of 20-40 Team Members depending on Business Channel and scope of assignment
- Key in the development of the future leaders of the organization, through training Team Members in policies, SOPs, product knowledge and other related job duties
- Key in understanding the voice of the customer to elevate the organization and resolve areas of opportunity
- Advanced knowledge of products, software systems and operational procedures with the ability to coach and mentor
- Ability to move throughout the floor and departments, assisting all Team Members within the store as Manager on Duty
- Oversees overall cash handling responsibilities
- Responsible for the opening and closing store duties
- Planning, assigning, and directing daily workflow within Business Channel
- Performance management through review writing, rewarding and giving feedback to Team Members
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and separation of Team Members
- Builds partnership with key partners through regular communication and collaboration with departments throughout the Company
- Active listening skills to understand the concerns of Team Members and customers, producing outcomes that solve complex issues through the alignment of Company Values
- Understanding of business reporting metrix, labor budget and strong understanding of business acumen
- All other duties as assigned by the Store Manager
Education and/Experience
- Advanced education from college or university and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years in a retail environment
- Minimum mid-level management background with exceptional supervisory skills
Knowledge Skill and Abilities:
- No previous hardware store knowledge needed
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Microsoft D365 experience is preferred
- Ability to lead, develop and grow a team
- Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and personnel in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task and take on a large volume of work in a high growth environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to follow through issues to resolution
Location/Hours: Hours are to meet the needs of the retail business, Sunday – Saturday. Ability to work holidays and weekends required.
