    Description: Paraeducator. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year, starting August 24, 2026.

    Hours/day: 6.5 hours/day M-F

    Job Summary: The Paraeducator is a district employee who is primarily engaged in direct interaction with one or more pupils for activities according to district-approved curriculum and teacher-approved plan for the student, physical or behavior management, inclusion or other activities. Must meet students where they are, assess their growth, and keep the student at the center of all decisions and practices.


    Minimum qualifications include:
    • Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education, Fridley Public Schools must meet highly qualified requirements. Therefore, upon hire, all hires must be Highly Qualified - Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
      • Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota’s standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
      • An Associate’s (or higher) degree; Minnesota’s standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree
      • Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment

    Qualifications:
    1. Ability to relate to and communicate with staff and students
    2. Patience and flexibility in working with special needs students
    3. Willingness to expand skills
    4. Ability to take direction of supervising teacher
    5. Ability to keep information confidential
    6. Ability to model and reinforce appropriate verbal and interpersonal behavior

    Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employed is regularly required to talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach for objects, stand, walk, push, pull, lift and use hands to grasp and feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, occasionally being required to lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
