About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturing company in the Swannanoa–Black Mountain area is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Buyer / Procurement Specialist to support plant operations and keep production running smoothly. This is a full‑time, onsite role with a stable, team‑oriented environment and strong ties to the local community.
Role Overview
In this role, you will own the day‑to‑day purchasing of materials, components, and services that support production, while helping to optimize inventory levels and supplier performance. You’ll collaborate closely with production, engineering, and logistics to anticipate material needs, avoid shortages, and contribute to on‑time delivery for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services for a manufacturing facility
- Request and evaluate supplier quotes; support price, terms, and contract negotiations
- Monitor inventory levels and usage to prevent shortages and excess stock
- Create and manage purchase orders in an ERP/MRP system and maintain accurate records
- Track supplier performance (on‑time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and escalate issues as needed
- Partner with production and engineering to forecast material needs and support production schedules
- Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify cost‑saving and process‑improvement opportunities
Ideal Background
- 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning, or supply chain support
- Manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred
- Hands‑on experience with ERP/MRP or inventory management systems
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced production setting
- Effective communicator who can build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers
